Shingle Roof Replacement In Jacksonville FL

Roof Replacements

Replacing your old roof isn’t just about the shingles; beware of contractors who don’t specify EVERY product on their estimate. These are called GENERIC roof systems and don’t offer the same protection. RoofWiser installs a COMPLETE roofing system designed to protect your most important investment, your home. Let’s talk about the RoofWiser Premium Series Architectural Roofing System. It’s so much more than shingles; layers of protection work together to keep your home safe from sun, rain, wind, and hurricanes.

Our Jacksonville Shingle Roof Replacement Process

Before we begin the installation process, we will remove all OLD roofing material and components down to the decking and evaluate the roof deck for damage, making any repairs as we go. We will re-nail the entire roof deck with 8D ring shank nails; the threads on these nails separate the wood fibers, which then lock back into the rings, thus resisting removal and bringing your entire decking system up to the current & highest FL Hurricane code.

Next, we will install two alternating layers, that’s right, TWO LAYERS of a GAF Felt-buster high-performance underlayment. This is not your traditional asphalt felt that can tear easily and absorb moisture. This is a non-asphaltic, polypropylene, long-lasting material that is tear-resistant, will not absorb water, or become brittle with age, and this system gets TWO layers.

Next, we will install a GAF Weatherwatch high-performance leak barrier known as peel and stick on all roof penetrations. This fiberglass-reinforced, utterly waterproof material self-seals around nails and provides double protection! This material will help prevent water penetration at the roof’s most vulnerable areas, like valleys, plumbing penetrations, vents, and chimneys.

Next is the starter strip; this is one of the most overlooked parts of the roofing system. Some contractors who install generic systems try to use cut-up 3-tab shingles as the starter on your roof. Unfortunately, cut-up shingles may not have properly positioned adhesive to ensure adequate wind resistance. We use a GAF Pro-Start high-performance eave starter strip. This has a factory-applied dura-grip bond which helps lock down the roof edges at the eave and rake conditions, giving this system an unlimited wind rating and preventing blow-off shingles.

Next is the drip edge; with your RoofWiser Premium Series, you will get a brand new high-performance FHA-style drip edge available in the color of your choice. A high-performance drip edge will ensure a watertight condition and prevent wind-blown water from penetrating the roof’s edge. It will also provide superior protection from wind uplift at the eave. We install this drip edge using 1.5” roofing nails fastened every 4” on-Center with a minimum of 4” roof cement covering the drip edge at the eaves and rakes.

The valley conditions are the next detail that separates the RoofWiser Premium Series from the generic competition. We install actual rolled metal to channel water down the valley and off of the roof, but not only do we install valley metal, but we will also install the GAF Weatherwatch high-performance leak barrier, better known as peel and stick. These two materials work together to provide DOUBLE protection in one of the most vulnerable areas of your roof and prevent water intrusion that may cause expensive wall and ceiling stains.

Next, we will address the plumbing penetrations; most contractors use a 3 in 1 plumbing boot; these are cheaply made neoprene boots that fit all sizes of plumbing pipes that penetrate the roof. These boots fail with age due to solar and weather exposure; they become brittle and crack, allowing water into your home. RoofWiser uses a lifetime warranty LEAD boot specifically sized to each plumbing pipe; this ensures that the roof deck around these pipes will stay dry to prevent any wood rot around these penetrations.

Next is your attic ventilation. Adequate attic ventilation is critical for a long-lasting roof! A properly vented attic helps prevent premature deterioration and promotes energy efficiency by reducing excessive heat and mildew. Your RoofWiser Premium Series will include the GAF high-performance COBRA Ridge vent system. This system will ensure excess heat and moisture escapes through vent slots in the ridge and has external baffles that deflect wind and rain.

Now we get to the SHINGLES! Your RoofWiser Premium Series will include the GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles made in the USA with the industry-leading no-limit wind warranty. The GAF timberline HDZ is America’s # 1 selling shingle and includes algae-fighting technology and one of the broadest nailing zones of any shingle on the market. With a 99.9% nailing accuracy, your system is engineered for the best possible installation. The HDZ shingle has ceramic-coated granules that come in the award-winning color of your choice. The layer lock technology powers the industry’s first no maximum wind speed limitation and will provide a lifetime of protection and beautify your home for many years to come.

Finally, we finish the system with a GAF premium protective Seal-A-Ridge hip and ridge shingle designed to compliment the GAF timberline HDZ. The GAF seal a ridge is the perfect finished touch and will offer protection at the highest stress areas on the roof, and they are a vital part of your RoofWiser Premium Series System. Beware of generic systems that use 3-tab shingles for hip and ridge applications; these shingles age differently than our premium products and will fade and deteriorate faster than the field shingles causing unsightly conditions at the hip and ridge lines.

Shingle Roof Replacement Jacksonville

1st Class experience start to finish. The process was as easy as making one call to your insurance company and picking out the color of shingles you want. We were very fortunate to have Jim and Crystal working with us as they were there every step of the way. The dumpster and materials arrive the day before the action takes place. The following day a top notch crew arrives very early and is straight away making miles. The entire project was done in a single day. I admit I had my concerns in regards to the clean up as there several nails and materials thrown about, but to my surprise the crew and the project manager walk the yard and the drive way to a great extent to ensure that 100% of the nails and materials are all cleaned up. It’s not everyday you get your roof replaced, so if you want the very best experience in having your long term investment done right then I would most definitely give WeatherLock a call for shingle roof replacement and other roofing services.

Shingle Roof Replacement in Jacksonville

I am very well pleased with the service that I received from Weatherlock Roofing LLC for shingle roof replacement. Jim and Crystal did everything in a professional manner from the start to finish. Their words and details for my roof never changed which they stayed true on their commitment to the customers. They do install high end shingles with the longest warranty on the market. The roofer’s removed and replaced the roof in a reasonable time ensuring the trash was picked up on completion. I strongly recommend that if you have any roof problems call them before you get work done by someone else. I can say that you will be glad that you did. Note: You will be notified by email to update you the status of the project so you are not left in the dark. Thanks Crystal and Jim for your honesty and care.

Shingle Roof Replacement Jacksonville FL

Our roof was replaced Aug26, by contractor Alan Ross of Weatherlock Roof Systems LLC . . . Our city building inspector (who has to approve the finished job) said to me that “if I thought my roof looked great from the street, I should see it from the top of the house/walking on the roof itself”, that he had never seen better workmanship . . . there were five guys/workers on the job, and they completed the work in one day, covered all bushes around the house with tarps to catch the debris that fell on the way to the dumpster, and finished cleaning up by running large magnets over the lawn (to capture fallen nails and metal debris. I was thrilled and am happy to give this recommendation for shingle roof replacement and other roofing services. . . I also commend Mr. Anthony Brown, job supervisor for Weatherlock . . . he was on the job as well and was extremely helpful to the working crew and myself.
